High school graduation traditions and achievements in San Diego

Stories from Point Loma High School and Point Loma High School graduation

The sun cast a warm glow over Pete Ross Stadium as the 100th graduating class of Point Loma High School gathered for their commencement ceremony on May 28, 2026.

At 5 p.m., the ceremony commenced, marking a significant milestone for the 383 graduates and the school's rich history.

As the event unfolded, gusty winds playfully lifted some graduates' caps, adding a touch of spontaneity to the proceedings.

This year's graduation also signified the conclusion of Principal David Jaffe's esteemed 34-year tenure.

The graduates honored him with enthusiastic applause, acknowledging his dedicated service to the school community.

Co-valedictorians Janette Aziz and Ian De La Houssaye, along with salutatorian Delila Wilson, shared their future aspirations, all planning to pursue mechanical engineering at prestigious universities.

Their peers are set to embark on diverse paths, including higher education, military service, entering the workforce, traveling, or taking time to explore their options.

In a cherished tradition, the graduates concluded the ceremony with a jubilant cap toss, symbolizing their transition into adulthood.

Congratulations to the Point Loma High School Class of 2026!
